Two years before Covid IMF predicted the need for working from home…
IMF, first it’s “an organization of 189 countries, working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world”. Second, it’s a large business that has HR issues just like the companies we work at every day. The IMF wanted to create more awareness about flexible work arrangements leading up to it’s EDGE 2019 certification.
Upon completing research and usability testing I became aware that the Intarnet (IMF’s internal web page) needed to be stream lined. Broken links and dated information had created a lack of confidence about the information found online. Due to those inadequacies the staff often failed to record informal work arrangements, or went directly to superiors or HR with inquires about FWA, creating more work for management. Managers felt pressure to make an informed decision with an over all wariness about making more work for themselves and their departments.
